Yukon Flight 1940/David O'brien
Another Royal Mounties Air corps movie with David O'Brien from 1940 is "Sky Bandits". basically the same cast and story. Dave O'Brien also appears in a dance routine in "42nd Street". But of greatest importance to me is that he played the part of Ralph in the 1937 classic " Reefer Madness". "May, bring me more reefer!"

The Straightest Mountie Ever
Renfrew Of The Royal Mounted series started at Grand National Pictures in 1937 produced by Phil Krasne and starring James Newill as Renfrew. This was a sturdy little set of "Mountie" adventures. Grand National went out of business after 3 films and in late 1939, Monogram picked up the remaining 6 films and released them in 1940. this film adventure was a particularly good entry with Warren Hull as the good bad guy and had a very early role for Roy Barcroft as a villian as well.
Renfrw sings and,of course, saves the day with the help of Dave O'Brien.
Newill and O'Brien would then begin a series for PRC pictures, released between 1942 and 1944, called the Texas Ranger series. Same set-up but set in Texas instead of Canada. Tex Ritter replaced Newill in the last films of the series.
This particular print is a little murky and soft.
My personal copy on a commercial DVD is much better, but you could spend a worse hour.
